Around the World Wide Web III

1. Hippie High

1 My adoptive siblings grew up in these era. My mother kept their clothes in the closet located in the other bedroom, one weekend when I was in freshmen high, I got bored so I raided said closet. I still remember the overwhelming smell of moth balls and old clothes like it was yesterday. it was a treasure throw for vintage lovers. My favorite piece was my brother’s brown belly bottoms. I went to a catholic private school that has a ridiculous uniform policy so I only got to wear them on the occasional “civilian” event and on weekends when I go out with friends. The hubs and I are renewing our wedding vows this year, I am now in wedding preparation mode. We didn’t have a big church wedding 10 years ago so this year in commemoration of that big event in our lives, we are throwing a huge party. It will be non-traditional, indie close friends and family type. I am so excited.

The Mala Beads hunt

Last week when I attended Amber’s vinyasa flow II  class we did a little chanting. Not going to lie the whole thing was weird in the beginning a) because I am still a newbie and does not know what it would do for me b) I thought there was a religious aspect, and made me does not want to participate c) I really just wanted to get to the physical part already. But after she explained the purpose of it to the class and the actual chanting closed, it turned out to be fantastic!

Our chant mantra: SA TA NA MA which translates to birth, life, death, rebirth. After chanting 108 times, I felt so relaxed. I get the same feeling after a day spa or retail therapy. I also discovered that after that meditation I was able to do the harder pose. Amber also mentioned that this method also helps protect one’s mind. That over time it should help the practitioner to break habits, focus, clarity, memory, concentration and control of emotions. It all sounds very good to me. So now I am in search of really cool mala beads necklace to go with this practice.

Here are my choices:

More info about the chant:

  • SA TA NA MA is so primal that its impact on our psyche is like splitting an atom. The power of his mantra comes from the fact that it rearranges the subconscious mind at the most elementary level. It has the power to break habits and addictions because it accesses the level of the mind where habits are created. – Kundaliniyoga.org

Elizabeth and James

Or really Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, women my age grew up with them and probably admire them as an actress and as the respected designer they are today. I on the other hand still couldn’t decide. But ever since I read an article of their store opening, The Row in Melrose, I started kin-of-liking them. The layout of the place is genius and the minimalist feel is always an A+ in my book. it looks like a big open walk in closet sans the clutter. Then the next factor is the Elizabeth and James, gorgeous designs on both the clothing articles and jewelry articles, their price is also not bad, I wouldn’t mind paying for a $95 ring as pretty at this with high quality plating.

Dannijo Fine Jewelry

I love Dannijo ever since I bought my very first friendship bracelet when it became all the rage 2 years ago. I have to admit, I loathe them, friendship bracelet I mean, I do not like the idea of wearing an accessories made in any type of fabric, thread, yarn, etc. Not because I am a total snob but because they tend to get dirty. But yeah 2 years ago up until last summer I was wearing them. What changed? They added blings and spike beads then all of a sudden I couldn’t resist them.

There were other brands that made them but Dannijo’s was my favorite, the brand is even more attractive now since they added a fine jewelry collection. the designs are so beautiful. Simple, delicate looking but have a lot or personality. My favorite piece of jewelry right now is the earring jacket trend, Dannijo have one of those and they are perfect!!!

Elena Votsi

One of the many things I look for in a jewelry is the design (don’t we all), if price is not an issue and I could have anything I want at this moment, I would definitely pick Elena Votsi, the Athens School of Fine Arts graduated must have excelled in all her classes based on her designs. Her collection is something that will haunt my dreams. I’ve never wanted such jewelry before, they are unbelievable chic, modern and definitely a very good conversation piece.
