2. This rare snapshot of the Romanov family

$(KGrHqR,!joFCfIP)mmoBQsH5voypw~~60_57

Rare photos taken by the last tsar himself – Nicholas II and colored by his third daughter Maria surfaced. Most photos are normal some creepy. All of them gave me an uneasy feeling yet I could not look away nor stop myself for viewing it a total of 5 times. I think it is because of the history of the family and intrigue.

Air France bought 20,000 copies of the latest print of Charlie Hebdo, it was their latest print after the 01/07 attack. The company bought it for any passengers who would like a copy.

The 16-page issue, compiled by the remaining Charlie Hebdo staff, has the newspaper’s usual controversial cartoons and provocative content. It includes illustrations from cartoonists killed in the attack, and a drawing of the Prophet Muhammad on the cover, which has angered some Muslims. – via Mashable

4. Slavik, the most fashionable homeless dude in Ukraine

$(KGrHqR,!joFCfIP)mmoBQsH5voypw~~60_57

Slavik is a 55 year old homeless gypsy discovered by photographer Yurko Dyachyshyn on the street of Lviv. Unlike other homeless gypsies, he appears to have different article of clothing everyday, and they are always fashionable. It was said that he gets his outfits from donation centers fro the homeless. he was never seen with bags or shopping carts full of bottles we normally see with a homeless person.

Here’s a snippet of the interview with Yurko found on his website

Slavik indeed has a sense of fashion. What does he think about fashion and style? What is his story?

Slavik is a freak, so he does not communicate adequately and his answers are not entirely clear. To all my questions about clothes and why he does it, he replies that things are vanity and that you can find lots of things in the trash. Slavik says that you should care about health and keep away from those who could ruin your peace of mind. Despite such indifferent answers, Slavik still has a sense of beauty, style and fashion and his suits are not random. It is not accidental that he changes them every day, adjusting them carefully to weather and season.

My attempts to learn the story of his life were vain. The excerpts of his story that I revealed are difficult to build in some sort of chronology. I did not try to influence or change your life. I was documenting another strange and unique personal story.

Often Slavik disappeared for long periods of time and, suddenly, reemerged again, asking where I had been.  He called me his friend and said that it was very scary to lose a friend.

For the last time I saw him in January of 2013. I hope he is well now and that one day he will suddenly appear behind my back saying: “Hey buddy, where’ve you been?”

5. How about this dog?

$(KGrHqR,!joFCfIP)mmoBQsH5voypw~~60_57

“All the bus drivers know her. She sits here just like a person does,” says one commuter about the dog, who often roams the aisles, sits in the seats, looks out the windows, and, of course, licks everything in sight. “She makes everybody happy,”

Several times, our dog Sumo roamed around the neighborhood and come back when he’s done sniffing and playing with the Chinese kids at the next block, freaked me out but I thought that was cool. But this Lab?! how awesome is that.

6. This bizarre convention for “Maskers”

$(KGrHqR,!joFCfIP)mmoBQsH5voypw~~60_57

Rubber Doll World Rendezvous is a convention for people who wears latex/ silicone body suits. This dude -a 70 year old resident here in orange County, CA named Robert, has been wearing his suit that he calls “Sherry” for 12 years now.

I am flabbergasted this news article is the same caliber as when I ready about Bronycon. my final opinion about this subject, as long as they are not harming anybody (and as long as my kids don’t see them) they can dress whoever or should I say whatever they want.

Elizabeth and James

Or really Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, women my age grew up with them and probably admire them as an actress and as the respected designer they are today. I on the other hand still couldn’t decide. But ever since I read an article of their store opening, The Row in Melrose, I started kin-of-liking them. The layout of the place is genius and the minimalist feel is always an A+ in my book. it looks like a big open walk in closet sans the clutter. Then the next factor is the Elizabeth and James, gorgeous designs on both the clothing articles and jewelry articles, their price is also not bad, I wouldn’t mind paying for a $95 ring as pretty at this with high quality plating.

Dannijo Fine Jewelry

I love Dannijo ever since I bought my very first friendship bracelet when it became all the rage 2 years ago. I have to admit, I loathe them, friendship bracelet I mean, I do not like the idea of wearing an accessories made in any type of fabric, thread, yarn, etc. Not because I am a total snob but because they tend to get dirty. But yeah 2 years ago up until last summer I was wearing them. What changed? They added blings and spike beads then all of a sudden I couldn’t resist them.

There were other brands that made them but Dannijo’s was my favorite, the brand is even more attractive now since they added a fine jewelry collection. the designs are so beautiful. Simple, delicate looking but have a lot or personality. My favorite piece of jewelry right now is the earring jacket trend, Dannijo have one of those and they are perfect!!!

2. This Medici family necklace

Saw this on an article published on 2013 that featured Mellerio dits Meller jewellery house for the 400th year in business. They’ve been serving (mostly the European nobles/ royalty) since 1613, very impressive.

3. Post Mortem photogrpahy

FE1

Like I said the segment is called “around the web” Huffington Post and several other blogs (drawing a blank) posted an article last year (and I’ve been looking ever since) about how in the Victoria era getting oneself or family photograph is a once in a lifetime thing. They were being literal, one tradition is a memento mori, While photography was lesser in cost than the painted portrait it was still quite pricey. For most families they would hire a photographer to take photos of their newly deceased loved ones as a keepsake.

4. This photo taken in North Korea

FE1

The recent month’s hacking of Sony Exec’s e-mail made me curious about North Korea, I do not know anything about them besides the facts that they live in their own world. So I started reading up on North Korean facts and oh man I am glad I don’t live in North Korea in my mind, I already broke most of the laws they enforce there.

The Admont Abbey in Austria Even at this digital age, I still long to have my own private library, it will be my ultimate woman. Nothing beats the smell of both old and new books and to have that physical copy, the act of flipping the pages… yeah I am one of those.

8. A news articles about Coach buying Stuart Weitzman, NO!!!

I respect Coach as a company but not a fan of their designs, I am afraid that they’ll change the Stuart Weitzman designs and mirror it like their own.

Jewelry Review: Gorjana, Ashiana London, Urban Gem

IMG_1119

For my first ever Rocksbox, I received 3 wonderful pieces from great designers.

Gorjana’s Elea Cuff

Urban Gem’s Victoria Necklace

Ashiana London’s Two Stone Drop Earrings in Aqua & Grey

IMG_1117

Gorjana’s Elea Cuff is definitely my favorite out of all the 3 pieces. It incorporates very well with my favorite Vanessa Mooney Unearthly Cuff and other gold pieces. The simple linear X design and wire concept is something so simple yet so timeless. If one decides to buy it, I think it will be money well spent, while it is not pure gold, the quality of plating will go a long way. Their plating looks like one of those that will probably last years with proper care.

IMG_1092

Urban Gem’s Victoria Necklace reminds me greatly of J-Crew’s statement pieces. It is well crafted and absolutely pretty. It was made with metal with bronze tone. It had that glitzy and vintage look that is a perfect match to any plain tees.

IMG_1140

Ashiana London’s Two tone earrings is pretty but not really my style. I am not a fan of the earring hook wire. It drags the skin on my earlobes. But design wise the aqua and grey stone combination is really nice. They complimented my skin tone. The stones are not heavy so it doesn’t pull down on the earlobes that much. quality is good and the cut and size of the stone are perfect for dangling earrings.

Collab announcement – Rocksbox

I am very excited to announce that Rocksbox and The Jewel Junkie are going to be working for the next 3 months. If you have not heard already, Rocksbox is a members only fashion jewelry loan service. I buy, collect and resale jewelry for fun but I am more of a buy and resale. For me to add a piece on my collection it must have certain qualities. It must be super unique, rare, gifted or really coveted for a long time. So a concept like this is really appealing. I get to borrow a jewelry and keep it as long as I am not sick of looking at it or as long as my membership is valid. I’ll write more about them as I go along. Jewelry reviews and photos will be posted soon. In the meantime enjoy this 1 month complimentary membership so we can experience it together. Click on the photo for the link to get started.

New Jewelry obsession – Vanessa Mooney

Saks Fifth Avenue

I had my eye on this designer for a while now but her prices are not a joke and for someone on a budget it is kind of a stretch but totally worth it. It also helped that I found a seller that gives me really great deal on these.

Her designs are so unique, they are the perfect embodiment of the “free spirited”. Shopping for it is so addicting that when I finally started a week ago, I made it a goal to buy a few pieces every week. Well ok as long as I can get a good deal on price for it. To match this new jewelry collection, I also started buying clothing article that are bohemian and gypsy chic inclined. I am happy to report that I believe I can pull it off. ha! Below are pieces I have so far

IMG_2329

I love them all but my absolute favorite pieces the Lillian and the SuperNova collection of the Unearthly ring and bangle. I like the unique design and how there is an unobtrusive natural stone that made a lot of difference to the piece.

  IMG_2330  IMG_2331  IMG_2332

The only big blunder I have about it is – the plating are not sealed / coated so when I wear the ring my finger turned green. But like I said I love the designs so much I research and was at one point even considered going to a jeweler to have them dipped in real gold but the cost of it was a real bummer so I researched some more and found out that Krylon Crystal Clear Glossy spray can preserve it the way I wanted. I was so scared that I will ruin the finish and the jewelry itself so I tested it on other pieces. I am happy to report that after 3 tries it was a success and I started spraying it on my Mooney pieces.
