Around the World Wide Web III

1. Hippie High

1 My adoptive siblings grew up in these era. My mother kept their clothes in the closet located in the other bedroom, one weekend when I was in freshmen high, I got bored so I raided said closet. I still remember the overwhelming smell of moth balls and old clothes like it was yesterday. it was a treasure throw for vintage lovers. My favorite piece was my brother’s brown belly bottoms. I went to a catholic private school that has a ridiculous uniform policy so I only got to wear them on the occasional “civilian” event and on weekends when I go out with friends. The hubs and I are renewing our wedding vows this year, I am now in wedding preparation mode. We didn’t have a big church wedding 10 years ago so this year in commemoration of that big event in our lives, we are throwing a huge party. It will be non-traditional, indie close friends and family type. I am so excited.

2. This rare snapshot of the Romanov family

$(KGrHqR,!joFCfIP)mmoBQsH5voypw~~60_57

Rare photos taken by the last tsar himself – Nicholas II and colored by his third daughter Maria surfaced. Most photos are normal some creepy. All of them gave me an uneasy feeling yet I could not look away nor stop myself for viewing it a total of 5 times. I think it is because of the history of the family and intrigue.

Air France bought 20,000 copies of the latest print of Charlie Hebdo, it was their latest print after the 01/07 attack. The company bought it for any passengers who would like a copy.

The 16-page issue, compiled by the remaining Charlie Hebdo staff, has the newspaper’s usual controversial cartoons and provocative content. It includes illustrations from cartoonists killed in the attack, and a drawing of the Prophet Muhammad on the cover, which has angered some Muslims. – via Mashable

4. Slavik, the most fashionable homeless dude in Ukraine

$(KGrHqR,!joFCfIP)mmoBQsH5voypw~~60_57

Slavik is a 55 year old homeless gypsy discovered by photographer Yurko Dyachyshyn on the street of Lviv. Unlike other homeless gypsies, he appears to have different article of clothing everyday, and they are always fashionable. It was said that he gets his outfits from donation centers fro the homeless. he was never seen with bags or shopping carts full of bottles we normally see with a homeless person.

Here’s a snippet of the interview with Yurko found on his website

Slavik indeed has a sense of fashion. What does he think about fashion and style? What is his story?

Slavik is a freak, so he does not communicate adequately and his answers are not entirely clear. To all my questions about clothes and why he does it, he replies that things are vanity and that you can find lots of things in the trash. Slavik says that you should care about health and keep away from those who could ruin your peace of mind. Despite such indifferent answers, Slavik still has a sense of beauty, style and fashion and his suits are not random. It is not accidental that he changes them every day, adjusting them carefully to weather and season.

My attempts to learn the story of his life were vain. The excerpts of his story that I revealed are difficult to build in some sort of chronology. I did not try to influence or change your life. I was documenting another strange and unique personal story.

Often Slavik disappeared for long periods of time and, suddenly, reemerged again, asking where I had been.  He called me his friend and said that it was very scary to lose a friend.

For the last time I saw him in January of 2013. I hope he is well now and that one day he will suddenly appear behind my back saying: “Hey buddy, where’ve you been?”

5. How about this dog?

$(KGrHqR,!joFCfIP)mmoBQsH5voypw~~60_57

“All the bus drivers know her. She sits here just like a person does,” says one commuter about the dog, who often roams the aisles, sits in the seats, looks out the windows, and, of course, licks everything in sight. “She makes everybody happy,”

Several times, our dog Sumo roamed around the neighborhood and come back when he’s done sniffing and playing with the Chinese kids at the next block, freaked me out but I thought that was cool. But this Lab?! how awesome is that.

6. This bizarre convention for “Maskers”

$(KGrHqR,!joFCfIP)mmoBQsH5voypw~~60_57

Rubber Doll World Rendezvous is a convention for people who wears latex/ silicone body suits. This dude -a 70 year old resident here in orange County, CA named Robert, has been wearing his suit that he calls “Sherry” for 12 years now.

I am flabbergasted this news article is the same caliber as when I ready about Bronycon. my final opinion about this subject, as long as they are not harming anybody (and as long as my kids don’t see them) they can dress whoever or should I say whatever they want.

Dannijo Fine Jewelry

I love Dannijo ever since I bought my very first friendship bracelet when it became all the rage 2 years ago. I have to admit, I loathe them, friendship bracelet I mean, I do not like the idea of wearing an accessories made in any type of fabric, thread, yarn, etc. Not because I am a total snob but because they tend to get dirty. But yeah 2 years ago up until last summer I was wearing them. What changed? They added blings and spike beads then all of a sudden I couldn’t resist them.

There were other brands that made them but Dannijo’s was my favorite, the brand is even more attractive now since they added a fine jewelry collection. the designs are so beautiful. Simple, delicate looking but have a lot or personality. My favorite piece of jewelry right now is the earring jacket trend, Dannijo have one of those and they are perfect!!!

Yoga pants fashion

Saks Fifth Avenue

Yesterday I did a full count of the many yoga pants I’ve purchased since I immersed myself in the wonderful practice of Yoga. Sure I still couldn’t pronounce nor remember properly the Sanskrit terms for the poses but really it’s the execution that really matter right? Anyway, I counted 12 and I think, I may have some more in the depths of my closet but whatever! I want more!!!. They are so comfortably awesome. I wear them at work without looking like I am ready to do a dancer’s pose anytime. With the right accessories and a little bit of attitude people might not even notice it. I also use it on Saturday and Sunday mornings errand with the children before attending an afternoon class.

Sample Yoga pants #OOTD: @work today- dated: 12/11/14

Leggings and knee high boots are my absolute staple pieces during the winter season. It is the one thing I can wear 5 days a week, so really the excessive purchase of yoga pants is not an excess at all since a. I use and need it for yoga b. it is an excellent alternative to the boring cotton material leggings c. I you don’t know yet, I have a penchant for psychedelic-ish and print design on pants c. duh! multi-use anywhere – studio, work, lounging, lazy days.

That two piece dress

An item on my wish list is a two piece dress. The one where in you have a crop top and then a skirt to match it. I love it so much but the designs out there is something my physique wouldn’t match. Most dress I tried are either too big or too small. And then eShakti was introduced to me. They provide designs for their clothing and you can customize it based on your measurements. So they go beyond the typical small to large size we find at our favorite retailers, in short there is no such thing as out of stock or “not available in your size”. Another feature is  you can modify the styles and choose different sleeves, neck line cuts and length. It is having your own tailor without the ridiculous price and they can make it in 14 days. This is the website where I found the two piece dress that I am looking for. It is 50’s inspired navy color. This is the photo of their original design.lip And I modified it with a short sleeves, sweet heard neckline and knee length skirt. The look is of a vintage inspired 1950’s reconstructed piece. Here is the finish product IMG_2055

I really love the dress it is so comfortable, the color is great, I really love the red and white stripes in the crop top. The company also used quality material for this two piece dress and the construction is crafted beautifully. It is especially a plus that the customer service is excellent.

Shopping Haul 2

Peter Thomas Roth Labs, LLC

I’ve been absent of the blogosphere this past few days, with the July 4th holiday, I was just really looking forward on relaxing and just being lazy. I am not a huge fan of alcoholic drinks anymore, but that weekend I got some what inebriated for 2 days straight, we celebrated John’s birthday at their house and ended up sleeping there since I had 4 beers (enough to get a DUI, so its a NO NO) and I am the DD then the next day we went to our friend Alphy and Rommel’s house in Cerritos to celebrate the 4th, and as soon as I walked in I counted 12 Hennessey bottles with 1 already empty. I had some shots but not to the point where in you swear not to drink alcohol for the rest of your life. You guys know what I am talking about?! Anyway it is always fun celebrating the 4th there since fireworks are legal in LA county (well with restrictions of course), it feels like the New Year’s Eve in the Philippines, Gabe (my 2 year old) got to light up sparklers for the first time, it was priceless. How was your July 4th celebration?

Earlier that day Gabe and I decided we wanted to go to the mall. Me? to check out good deals of course and him to ride the carousel at South Coast Plaza and get some $1 toys from Target. All in all it was a good weekend. *smiles*

Review: Zara Mini – City Bag

Lately I’ve been on the satchel slash cross body style of purses and the Zara Mini City has been on my watch list. It is the perfect size (10″x12″x4″) and shape for an everyday office use. It fits all my basic essentials: full size wallet, make up pouch, travel size lotion, sanitizer, small notebook, clear zipper pouch for small documents and other knick knacks. The outside material and the strap  are made of 100% polyurethane which have the saffiano like feel. The inside lining is cotton. I love the sturdy structure and the navy shade, it is perfect. It is a neutral color for what I have in my wardrobe.  The gold plating on the padlock hardware of the bag is also of high quality, I expect the shine to last a little bit longer with a help of a polishing cloth. Over all the bag is well made and price is just right.
