Elizabeth and James

Or really Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, women my age grew up with them and probably admire them as an actress and as the respected designer they are today. I on the other hand still couldn’t decide. But ever since I read an article of their store opening, The Row in Melrose, I started kin-of-liking them. The layout of the place is genius and the minimalist feel is always an A+ in my book. it looks like a big open walk in closet sans the clutter. Then the next factor is the Elizabeth and James, gorgeous designs on both the clothing articles and jewelry articles, their price is also not bad, I wouldn’t mind paying for a $95 ring as pretty at this with high quality plating.

Jewelry Review: Gorjana, Ashiana London, Urban Gem

IMG_1119

For my first ever Rocksbox, I received 3 wonderful pieces from great designers.

Gorjana’s Elea Cuff

Urban Gem’s Victoria Necklace

Ashiana London’s Two Stone Drop Earrings in Aqua & Grey

Gorjana’s Elea Cuff is definitely my favorite out of all the 3 pieces. It incorporates very well with my favorite Vanessa Mooney Unearthly Cuff and other gold pieces. The simple linear X design and wire concept is something so simple yet so timeless. If one decides to buy it, I think it will be money well spent, while it is not pure gold, the quality of plating will go a long way. Their plating looks like one of those that will probably last years with proper care.

Urban Gem’s Victoria Necklace reminds me greatly of J-Crew’s statement pieces. It is well crafted and absolutely pretty. It was made with metal with bronze tone. It had that glitzy and vintage look that is a perfect match to any plain tees.

Ashiana London’s Two tone earrings is pretty but not really my style. I am not a fan of the earring hook wire. It drags the skin on my earlobes. But design wise the aqua and grey stone combination is really nice. They complimented my skin tone. The stones are not heavy so it doesn’t pull down on the earlobes that much. quality is good and the cut and size of the stone are perfect for dangling earrings.

Ask the Jewel Junkie: Engagement Ring Suggestions

Lately friends and family are getting engaged. It’s an exciting time! Lot’s of photos to share with us, I love it!  The husband and I do not have a wow engagement story, we did everything unconventional so I don’t have that gushing and blushing that normal women experience, and I love that about us. We are at that age wherein we get invited to attend 2-5 weddings a year, and everyone of those I cannot look at the bride’s face when she walks down the aisle. I get really sappy especially when there’s tears of joy, I’ve had enough of my husbands snickering when that happens, so I do what I do— the jewelry *&%$ in me looks at the engagement ring and the flair of the bride’s gown and accessories. I look at the bride’s face when the actual ceremony is over or when they do their obligatory rounds to welcome the guests. This is not the only reason why I decided to write an article about engagement rings,  yesterday I got a private message on Twitter from a girl named Callie she’s recently engaged, in fact 9 hours ago (from the time she sent me the message) so at first I’m like ummmm… ok congratulations, yes I typed exactly like that. I was confused and a little surprised. And then she said:

I need engagement ring suggestions, my boyfriend proposed but since I am a little bit of a control freak instead opening a ring box with a ring in front of me, he gave me his American Express and said, “If you say yes, pick out the ring you wanted”.

No B.S and straight to the point, I di it! So I told her, wow very romantic LOL. and she agreed to the LOL part. But hey she sounded very happy and thrilled, so I am right there with her. It was the strangest thing since, well, this is the first time a stranger asked my opinion about jewelry, so I decided to help her. Like those subscribed / members only shopping sites. I asked questions about her style and a little bit of everything. From that, these are the rings that I came up with. I actually had fun having this twitter conversation and scouring the internet and magazines for suggestions. I guess giving out advice like this is not too bad. The crazier/funnier/weirder you are the more I wanted to hear from you. If you want to chat my twitter handler is @thejeweljunkie1

To Callie,

You are crazy! I absolutely love our conversation. I hope you like one of the suggestions I have above and I hope you’ve made up your mind on what “mood” you are in when you pick out your ring. But seriously, pick whatever feels right. And may you and your fiancée have a great wedding and an even greater married life. Good luck with everything.

Love,

Patricia

Geometric, Art Deco Bangles

JuiceBeauty.com   I am currently obsessed with geometric theme in jewelry, sure it is always there but the ones that I favor looks bad ass. It is a minimalist dream but definitely had a punch of making a statement. I especially love the ones with stones in them.

If anyone is interested and obsessed like me, I started selling them in my Poshmark closet.

I also found pieces that I added on my wish list.
